Barceloneta Directs Coordinated Investments Toward Housing and Infrastructure Upgrades

Barceloneta will receive a 31 million euro investment for structural improvements between now and 2028, covering housing, facilities and public space work. The allocation reflects decisions by local services to address neighborhood needs through planned upgrades rather than ad hoc measures.

Targeted Housing Renovations

The plan includes the renovation of two housing blocks to expand public housing options. This covers 81 elderly homes at C/ Pinzón along with 12 and 18 flats at Passeig Joan de Borbó, 44. These specific sites were selected as part of the City Council’s approach to maintaining existing stock while adding capacity for residents.

New Community Center Project

A 1.7 million euro project is underway to build a new 528 m² community center for local entities at Passeig Joan de Borbó 44. The facility is expected to finish in early 2027 and will provide dedicated space for neighborhood organizations to deliver services.

Public Space and Infrastructure Funding

14.3 million euros will be invested specifically to improve public space in Barceloneta as part of the comprehensive improvement plan. Additional infrastructure investments have been agreed between the City Council, Catalonia Government and Port de Barcelona to upgrade the northern port mouth, tinglados at Moll Orienta and the Sant Sebastià fishing area.
