Eixample Opens New Group Swim Sessions For All Ages This July
Eixample facilities open new group sessions across age groups at multiple neighbourhood pools this July.
How we reported this

Eixample aquatic centres have added morning and evening group swim blocks for infants, adults and seniors, with the first sessions scheduled at two district venues on 15 July.
City budgets for public recreation held steady through the first half of 2026 even as consumer spending on private fitness dipped, pushing more residents toward low-cost municipal pools that already operate at capacity on weekday mornings.
Named venues and weekly timetables
The Centre Esportiu Municipal Consell de Cent on Carrer del Consell de Cent runs parent-and-baby classes in the teaching pool each Tuesday and Thursday at 09:30, while the Piscina Municipal Sagrada Família on Carrer de Lepant reserves three 25-metre lanes for adult lane swimming every weekday from 07:00 to 08:30 and again from 19:00 to 20:30. Both sites also host a joint senior aqua-aerobics circuit on Saturday mornings that moves between the two locations on a rotating schedule.
Staff at the Consell de Cent centre report that 180 children aged three to six have already registered for the new eight-week block that begins next week, and the Sagrada Família pool has opened an additional 40 places in its adult learn-to-swim group after the previous cohort filled within four days of the announcement posted on 2 July.
Costs and participation figures
A ten-session pass costs 28 euros for adults and 18 euros for children under 12, with a single senior session priced at 3.50 euros when purchased on site. District records show 2,450 individual visits to Eixample pools during the same week last July, a figure that organisers expect to rise once the new timetables appear on the city website later this week.
Residents can book places through the Barcelona city app or at the front desks of either pool before the first session; walk-in spots remain available for the senior circuit provided participants arrive 15 minutes early with a towel and cap.
